I'm Anne-Marie, a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Bedford.
I work with adults, couples and other relationships, and young people, supporting them through a wide range of life's challenges. These might include anxiety, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, bereavement, or simply feeling overwhelmed or unsure about life.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted. I aim to provide a warm, confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly, without fear of judgement.
My approach is relational and integrative, with foundations in psychodynamic counselling.
Put simply, this means I'm interested in understanding you as a whole person - not just the difficulties you're experiencing today, but also the relationships, experiences and patterns that may have shaped how you feel and respond to the world.
I believe the relationship between us is an important part of therapy. Building trust takes time, and we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I'm not here to tell you what to do or offer quick fixes. Instead, we'll explore what's happening in your life, make sense of difficult feelings and consider what might help you move forward.
Alongside my private practice, I currently work as a school counsellor within a pastoral care team, supporting young people as they navigate adolescence, relationships, identity and the pressures of growing up.
I also have particular experience and expertise in bereavement, life changes and loss. This includes supporting people through the death of someone close, changes in relationships, health or circumstances, and other experiences of loss that can affect our sense of self and wellbeing.
Alongside individual counselling, I facilitate small bereavement support groups, offering people the opportunity to connect with others who have experienced loss.
Before training as a counsellor, I studied in Bristol and went on to work in educational publishing in London, managing and training a graduate team.
It was during this time that my interest in people, relationships and emotional wellbeing developed, eventually leading me to retrain as a counsellor.
I bring both my professional training and wider life experience to my work, alongside a genuine interest in people and the stories that shape them.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred) and work in accordance with its ethical framework.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and am fully insured.
